Welcome! All About Heavryspace
Whether you're someone looking for fat-friendly spaces, or someone trying to create them, Heavryspace is here to support you.
Fat people are left out from spaces, activities, and opportunities every day, yet the exclusion is treated as normal. Efforts to include fat people are often met with resistance or ridicule, telling us that we will earn access and dignity only when we shrink ourselves.
Heavryspace is a collection of resources designed to address the physical and emotional barriers blocking the way of access for millions of fat people. It empowers both professionals and clients by helping them find community, advocate, and navigate the current standards while educating allies and businesses on creating welcoming, inclusive spaces without judgment or shame.
Heavryspace is more than a place to find resources; it is a bridge between the lived experiences of fat people and real, practical change.
Guides, education, and templates for advocating are designed to be easy to access and share, making starting conversations about exclusion and addressing access gaps in our communities feel hopeful and impactful.
Navigating a world designed not just without you, but to actively keep you out is frustrating and exhausting. Heavryspace believes in educating without shame and keeps resources approachable, giving all advocates confidence to share and educate themselves and others.
Heavryspace founder, Toni PNW, believes that price should never be a barrier to knowledge so every resource she creates is available for free. Because creatives often have to choose between sharing knowledge and art freely and sustainability, if you find value in Heavryspace's resources, supporting their creation and sharing them broadly helps make it possible to continue fuelling the change we are all working hard to bring.
Anti-fat bias is woven tightly into our society, and while these resources are created to break down and remove these barriers, they're only effective when we engage with them and one another, sharing them and using them to enhance our collective effort of challenging the exclusionary status quo.
